Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Team (MCRRT)

The MCRRT team is composed of First Responders consisting of Mental Health Professionals (MHP) and dedicated uniform police officers in marked cruisers, responding to 911 calls for persons in crisis or related calls.

  1. Four teams a day that serve the City of Hamilton
  2. 7 days a week from 8:00am to 4:00am
  3. Bring expertise of the MHP to the person in crisis within minutes
  4. Divert from hospital where possible and connect the individual to the appropriate community resources
  5. Follow-up provided by COAST, thus allowing patrol officers to attend to other police work
  6. On-road resource and consultation to police for person in crisis mental health calls

Please don’t hesitate to call 911 if any person, including a person in mental health distress, is at immediate risk of serious harm. Police can arrive quickly with the primary goal of keeping everyone safe. Also, many police officers with Hamilton and Halton Police Services have special mental health training.
